I'm a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Mt San Antonio College, a father, a paraglider and hang glider, a runner, a musician, an amateur astronomer, a poet, a Friend (Quaker) and generally someone who is passionate about living life. A few years ago I took a sabbatical from Mt SAC and became the
Regional Director of the Pacific Southwest Regional Office of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).
I'm quite proud of the work I helped to do
while I was there. Currently I'm the clerk
of the Pacific Southwest Regional Executive Committee,
and I am a Past Presiding Clerk for Pacific
Yearly Meeting. I'm also co-clerk of Orange Grove Monthly Meeting
(with my husband David, who is the other
co-clerk), where I have my membership. I've also
been clerk of Ministry and Oversight for Pacific Yearly Meeting.
I am a gay man and am one of the advisors to Lambda, the gay group on our campus. I've been actively involved in the struggle for equality most of my life, working for the equality of all oppressed groups in the United States and around the world. I am passionate about peace and social justice issues. I helped to start a school for Afghan refugee girls, which currently has
600 girls enrolled in two schools!
On this site you will find pictures, references, links, and general information about all the parts of my life (for instance you will find that I'm KG6RUS, an amateur radio operator). Please feel free to surf the site, and to send me email if you have any questions or wish to contact me. If you are one of my students, you will find useful information on this site about my schedule, my office hours, how to contact me on campus, and other useful goodies for class.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and learn more about me! Joe
